I like to keep track of my timing and laps. Which watch is good? There are plenty of watches that are "water resistant" but not "water proof". There are others which are called "diving watches" but are priced very high. How are swimming watches rated? Is 10 bar adequate?

If all you want is a watch, then so long as it's marked 'Diver's 200 m' or '20 ATM/ATA/bar', you're good. The rest is just cosmetics.

A US shallow diver has broken his own world record by swan-diving 36ft (11m) into a paddling pool containing just 12in (30.5cm) of water.
