Can anyone tell me what KINETIC means when buying a seiko watch?
January 29th, 2010 | by admin |I am buying a SEIKO watch,it costs £175, and it is described as KINETIC. what does that mean?
Rather than a traditional battery operating the watch it relies on a kinetic mechanism to power it. This is a simple counterweight that moves backward and forward with everyday movements thus charging the watch. Stopping moving will not mean the watch stops as it can hold a charge for quite some time, so taking it off overnight will not cause the watch to stop. Nor does it require lots of extravagent movements, just walking, typing and moving around will do the trick.

usually means it doesn’t need batteries, your wrist motion (steady!) winds it up.
It’ll stop if you don’t wear it.

Your normal every day movements keeps the watch wound-up.

It means that you rarely if ever will have to change the battery, becasue it gets charged by kinetic energy which is basically just movement. so if you wave to someone you might charge it for a few hours

Yes the wrist action keeps it going Kinetic= bending movement. Kinetic lifting as in caring for the sick or infirmed.

kinetic means movement, I would guess that as you move your arm (with the watch on it) that it winds up automatically. Sounds like a nice watch.

Kinetic is the term used for transformation of energy.
Kinetic energy is movement. shaking your wrist.
potential energy is stored like in a battery

Self-winding, when you are wearing it.

kinetic energy…..there is a small "off- set" flywheel that moves all the time you wear the watch…and transfers rotation into energy…….some hydraulic automatic transmissions deliver kinetic energy via the torque converter to power the wheels
