My husband was best man in his friends wedding last year and he got an awesome gift. The groom got him a tray of chips from his favorite casino, and put it in one of those acrylic lock boxes real casinos use to transport them in. My husband could barely contain himself he was so excited. It's really nice you want to cater to their personalities...what about concert tickets or something equally musical.

We got ours Ugly Sticks (unbreakable fishing rods) and a guided trip for bass with the groom one weekend. They were all the outdoorsy type who loved to fish….except one. He got a gift certificate to GameStop since the guy was currently obessed with his new Xbox 360.

The point is to think about each person individually and what they like. Ask yourself…."would I get this for their birthday/Christmas?" If the answer is NO you need to keep looking.

When my brother got married his wife went with the stereotypical bridesmaid gifts and wanted him to get engraved beer steins for the groomsmen, but my brother procrastinated until it was too late. The day of the rehearsal dinner he went to Sharper Image and bought them some $50 dollar gadget. She flipped out and thought it was so tacky, but at the rehearsal dinner after they gave out gifts, I will never forget all those boys standing in a circle playing with their gadgets just so excited as if it was Christmas! My suggestion, if you don't want one of those typical wedding party gifts, just pick a price point and go shopping at cool stores with your fiance. Odds are, if he thinks something is super cool, so will they.

My nieces husband gave his groomsmen engraved axes.
They were all outdoor types that would appreciate a good ax.
Her cousin was the minister and having been at the rehersal dinner where they were given was very proud of himself for not making any commit during the service about "Cutting to the point" or "ax murderers".

I don’t know how original it is, but my fiance got a Citizen watch for being best man in his brother’s wedding. He loved it.

For our wedding, we are going to be giving the bridal party nice sunglasses. We liked this idea because it’s something they can actually use.

a friend of mine’s hubby gave all the guy’s engraved baseball bats (wooden) – which was a really good gift since he played on softball leagues with many of them. personally, i know your supposed to give something engraved or personalized but that stuff usually just gets thrown in a drawer – its different, but i think a gift certificate to somewhere would be much more appreciated and actually get used. yeah, they wouldn’t have an object to remember someones special day, but its not ‘their’ special day so in the long run they aren’t going to care to remember it. just my opinion.

My husband gave his groomsmen nice pocket/hunting knives engraved with their names. They all loved them! Just keep in mind that if any of them are flying home, they won't be able to take a knife home in their carry-on luggage, so you might want to provide them with a padded envelope and postage so they can mail it home.

For my fiancee’s brother’s wedding, I recieved an engraved tankard.

That would certainly be good for someone who likes to drink!
