Mens Sports Watches an Evolution

It was not until sometime around the beginning of the First World War that men began to wear wrist watches, in fact such items were considered to be women’s jewelry. Men wore pocket watches, those who could afford it. The fad for men’s wrist watches never caught on until armies started ordering it for the soldiers. This resulted in many innovations to meet the specifications of the different areas of the armed forces, Air force, Navy, and Army. The natural evolution of this resulted in the category for mens sports watches.
Mens Sports Watches have not only become a fashion statement but are in high demand by professional sports men in their respective disciplines, and they demand the best. Through past experience and competition the simple wrist watch has morphed into many variations of styles and functionality. This can vary from a simple analog movement of hour, minute, and second hand with a numbered rotating bezel. To a multifunctional wrist computer that can track time in three zones, time a race and sound an alarm set to a predetermined figure. The main characteristic though is a large face with bold numbers.
There are three areas in particular that mens sports watches are in high demand, they all require the same basic feature. The ability to keep accurate time, but each has its unique requirements that must be met. The pilot or aviator watch, the racing watch, and the marine or dive watch. Although a watch from each area could be used in the other, professional watches will have characteristics and features that will be specific to that area.
As an example Pilot Watches will be able to withstand high altitudes, low temperatures, and keep time in several time zones. The marine and dive watch must be highly non corrosive and be able withstand depths varying from 100 to 1000 feet. Racing Watches must also be durable and can with stand lots of vibration and keep accurate lap times and have stop watch features.
There are other fields or profession that have different specifications for their chronographs and can be just as demanding. But in general most males have a penchant to own several Mens Sports Watches, especially if they reflect a macho image.
